Elementary Formation

Welcome!

The Faith Formation Staff at St. Cecilia’s is here to help you, as parents/guardians, to nurture and foster growth in the Catholic faith of your children. We are aided by the tremendous help from catechists/volunteers of our Parish who give of their time and talents in a variety of ways.

Options for Faith Formation

We have two different options for Faith Formation – Traditional Classroom Style and a multi-aged, Montessori based program called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Option 1: Classroom-based

St. Cecilia’s Elementary Classroom Faith Formation program utilizes the “Be My Disciples” series published by RCL Benziger. “Be My Disciples” is a spiral curriculum that covers the Trinity, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Gospel, the Saints, and other Catholic teachings appropriate to each grade level.

Elementary Classroom Faith Formation is offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:15 pm at St. Cecilia School. This program is open to children in Kindergarten/1st Grade through 5th Grade.

Option 2: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a hands-on approach to religious education based on the Montessori Method. Recognizing that children have a unique and beautiful relationship with God, the aim of this method is to foster this relationship while helping children to grow in an understanding of Scripture and Liturgy, thus allowing the child to participate more fully in the center of the Church’s life – the Mass.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at St. Cecilia’s is offered at a variety of times on Wednesdays and Thursdays in a prepared space called the Atrium. CGS at St. Cecilia’s offers Levels One (3-6 yrs), Two (6-9 yrs), and Three (9-12 yrs). Click here to learn more.
