About

Ken Hiveley, Elementary Faith Formation Coordinator

I was a seminarian for the Diocese of Sioux City for 5 years including 4 years of minor seminary at St. John Vianney College Seminary at the University of St. Thomas and a pastoral year at my home parish at the time in Madrid, IA. I graduated with two bachelor of arts degrees in Philosophy as well as Catholic Studies. I was blessed to be able to spend a semester in Rome as well as travel to numerous holy sites around Europe and to walk the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) through part of Spain. During my pastoral year, the vocations team and I collectively decided that I was more likely called to marriage.

A few months later, I met an amazing young woman, Courtney, who I am now so lucky to be able to call my wife. Courtney and I have been married for just over 10 years and live in north Ames. We have 3 children: Aliyah, Gia, and Aiden. Our kids go to school in Gilbert. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, board games, and golf. I aspire to join the Senior PGA tour in a little more than 7 years…but with limited time and talent, what could go wrong with that plan?!

I hope to be a resource for encouraging the faith of your family, not just your children. I want to hear from you both from what you enjoy about our programming and any concerns that you have.
