LisaJane Gildehaus

LisaJane, aka LJ, is our administrative assistant in the parish office at St. Cecilia. A member of St. Cecilia’s since 1998 when she and her husband Allen moved to Ames so she could take her English/language arts teaching position at Gilbert, LJ loves singing in the choir for Mass, and sharing her passion for music during funerals and weddings. A December 1989 graduate of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA, she was actively involved in the SAU concert band, concert choir, chamber singers, and musical theater organizations, as well as leader of the music ministry group for two years. Music has always been a huge part of her life; her Grandma Pat once told her that those people who raise their voice in song pray twice! After retiring from a 32-year career as an English/language arts teacher and speech/drama coach for middle and high school students, she knew she could never just sit at home twiddling her thumbs when she had skills to offer and love to share with others. While she may not be “retired,” in the true sense of the word, LJ enjoys being more available to her family in the Quad City area, supporting her son Eric’s theatrical performances at college, being able to partake in one of her favorite pastimes – going to the movie theater with her husband and eldest son Jacob to watch some of the latest releases in film – and lounging guilt-free at home with her three furry friends, Artemis, Loki, and Poe. She is happy to be a part of the office staff family at St. Cecilia and meet fellow parishioners whom she would not have met had she not had the opportunity to serve in this role. When God closes a door, He opens a window!
