Principal’s Letter

Dear Parent,

We are delighted to provide you with information about St. Cecilia School. We are always eager to welcome newcomers to become part of the St. Cecilia family. Our staff and faculty are here to help you learn about our programs and we hope you find our online presence a helpful tool.

Since opening in 1925, St. Cecilia School has provided young people in central Iowa an excellent Catholic education tailored to the needs of each pupil. Our mission is to nurture the whole child with an exceptional academic experience, immersive faith formation, creative artistic expression, positive social development, and athletic instruction that strives for a healthy lifestyle.

Like all fine schools, Saint Cecilia strives to maintain high academic standards. But equally important to us is the development of a personal faith life for each student. We look to Christ as our example of the perfect educator. When challenges arise in our lives, we take comfort facing them with a strong intellect shaped by the gospel message.

Your son or daughter will find in St. Cecilia School a place where they can identify and fully develop the gifts with which they have been blessed. Our outstanding educators and support staff strive to foster an environment of loving service and high expectations. By the time they leave St. Cecilia School, our students are well on their way to developing the personal and academic habits to become courageous, thoughtful and successful people who will contribute to our world in meaningful ways.

To experience the unique character of St. Cecilia School, we invite you come see us. Schedule a private tour, attend one of our open house events, or join us for mass on Wednesday mornings in the parish church. We look forward to the opportunity to personally welcome you to our school and, we hope, to membership in our St. Cecilia family.

PowerSchool is a student information system that St. Cecilia School uses to maintain and update all student information, including fieldtrip permissions, medication permissions, health information, etc. PowerSchool uses the Internet to facilitate student information management and communication among school administrators, faculty, and staff. Daily attendance and faculty grade books are incorporated into the PowerSchool system.

PowerSchool also has the potential for parents, as well as students, to access significant data to stay current with student education, school bulletins, and lunch/milk balances.
