Kindergarten Service Project-Feed The Hungry
In Matthew 25:40, he identifies the works of mercy, saying whenever we care for people who are in most need, we care for him. Jesus specifically names feeding the hungry as one of these corporal works of mercy.

During this school year, the St. Cecilia kindergarten classes will take part in collecting non-perishable food items for the Food At First food pantry, as part of their service project and letter of the week literacy activity. Families are encouraged to shop together and donate items that begin with our letter of the week.  This helps the students understand that words begin with different sounds and that sounds are all around us in our world. It also provides the opportunity to donate a variety of items to meet the diverse needs in our community. Parents have commented that this activity makes going to the grocery store an adventure for them and their child!

On Friday, September 27th, all students can dress out-of-uniform for a suggested donation of $1. Proceeds will go to Food at First food pantry.

SCRIP Spotlight
We’d like to take a moment and tell you more about our awesome SCRIP program. Our current SCRIP coordinators are Bev Williams and Judy Brown. Bev Williams has been helping with our SCRIP program for nine years and this is Judy Brown’s second year. SCRIP is a program which is a great fundraiser for the school and can also help you with your tuition or your percentage can go toward local tuition assistance or other programs. We all buy groceries and gas for our car each week, so why not look at using SCRIP gift cards. It’s a easy program to use and Bev and Judy are always very willing to help you. In the past, SCRIP has also provided each classroom with some grant money to use for classroom purchases. Thank you for all you do for St. Cecilia School, we appreciate you!

The SCRIP program is up and running, so please have your orders in by 9 a.m. on Monday mornings. Thank you!

After Mass Receptions
Once a month each grade will be sponsoring the all-school Mass and will have a reception following Mass. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help set up/serve during the reception and donations of cookies and drinks. The 5th grade will have their reception on September 18th.   The dates for the rest of the grades are also listed on the sign up.  If you are interested, please sign up using the link below.  You don’t want to sign-up to help with set up/serve at the Mass that your child is sponsoring because you will be invited to attend the reception with them. Thank you for your help.
Advertise your business to school families!
Once again this year, Saint Cecilia School’s FSA will be printing a directory to share class lists and contact information. The back few pages of the directory will include an advertising section. This will be an opportunity for school families to share their business information so we can support each other locally!
If you would like to have your business included, please submit a business card (this will be scanned to serve as your ad) and a check for $50 to St. Cecilia FSA and return to the school office in an envelope labeled St. Cecilia FSA Directory. You may also send your ad digitally (approximate size 3.5″ x 2″) to Jessica Loecke at Proceeds will go into the FSA budget. Please submit your ad or business card and check by Friday, September 20.
