OUR FAITH SCHOOL TUITION ORGANIZATION (STO)
 65% Tax Credit Too Good to be True? Not at all. If you file an Iowa Income Tax Return, your contributions to the Our Faith School Tuition Organization (STO) receive a 65% tax credit. That means for every $1000 you donate, you receive an Iowa income tax credit of $650, which reduces your Iowa tax liability by $650. In addition, your gift may qualify for federal deductibility. And that gift you made? It helps make a Catholic school education affordable for every child, regardless of their families’ financial situation. It really is that simple. FAMILY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (FSA) NEWS
Meals
One of the great ways our school families support each other is by providing meals for familes who recently had newborns or when someone is recovering from surgery and needs extra help. FSA will send out a meal train link in the Principal’s Notes that you can sign up for. It is a great way to meet families and it helps so much! After Mass Receptions
The 4th grade will be sponsoring mass and having their reception on Wednesday, October 23rd.  We are still in need of volunteers and donations for this date.  If you are interested, please sign up using the link provided.  The rest of the class receptions are also on the sign up as well.  Thank you in advance.

Box Top$ for Education Update
We are planning to submit the box tops on November 1st, so please bring in any box tops you may have by October 25th. Attached, please see the flyer showing the new online app for scanning receipts instead of manually cutting and bringing them into school. Please note that you can still bring any box tops into school through the expiration date if you’d rather do this instead of the app for now.
                                                            

Restaurant Fundraiser
The first FSA restaurant fundraiser night of the year is Sunday, October 13th from 4:00-8:00 at Panera! Panera will donate back 20% of online orders, deliveries and dine in orders made during this time. Check your child’s folder next Friday for a flier to show at the restaurant or show this electronic version to get credit. This will be a fun and yummy way to support the school!

FSA Read-A-Thon
The Read-A-Thon is finishing up. Please return all donations and Recording Sheets by 3:20 p.m on Tuesday October 15th for you child to be eligible for the raffle drawings and prizes.  Even though your child is done recording their minutes, friends and family can still donate.  The online link will be open thru October 14th.

EARLY MORNING BAND 
Early morning band will start Friday, October 18 at 7:30AM.  Band Lessons will also continue on Fridays.
Please watch for updates on upcoming Fridays that we don’t have school.
Hot Lunch News 
We wanted to let parents/guests know that we will be raising Staff/Guest hot lunch prices on November 1st to $4.00 for Lunch and $2.00 for Breakfast for Staff/Guest.  Due to our State of Iowa rep suggesting that we raise prices for our Staff/Guest prices to remain profitable and secure that we can maintain the price of our student lunch at this time. Mrs. Rooney took this suggestion to the Catholic School Board at their October meeting and it was passed.  Please come join your child for lunch anytime. We appreciate your understanding and support of the Hot Lunch Program.

Breakfast Hours and Cost
We began serving breakfast on October 1st. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 am (for students in early supervision) to 8:15 (for students arriving for supervision at 8:00). It will be $1.65 for students and $0.30 for free and reduced. We are very proud of our hot lunch program and we welcome your ideas and input. We are striving to create a nutrition program that is mindful of God’s Care for Creation. With your support, our hot lunch program can thrive and grow, just like our garden!

Scrip News
Did you know that the St. Cecilia Scrip Program offers over 255 SripNow! products?? You can purchase ScripNow! products and the electronic gift card gets sent directly to your email account. It makes online shopping easy or you can send and electronic card as a gift for birthdays, graduations, etc.

Using ScripNow! products adds up quickly to benefit our school. Please, take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

Marketing Strategic Planning
St. Cecilia School is participating in a Marketing Strategic Planning initiative with the Archdiocese. We have received a lot of valuable information and ideas. Because of this, we are creating an Enrollment Management Committee. The focus of this committee will be to work on recruitment, admissions, and retention (marketing will be one piece of this.) Please consider serving on this committee to help with enrollment efforts at St. Cecilia School. This isn’t something that would necessarily mean regular meetings, but may include meeting with Mrs. Rooney to discuss ideas and initiatives.
