Catholic Schools Week 2019 – Sunday, January 27 to Saturday, February 2
Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.
During Catholic Schools Week we focus on these areas while providing activities for the students. Attached please find the agenda and review it closely for the daily events. Here are some of the highlights:
Sunday, January 27: 11am-1pm St. Cecilia School Open House & Pasta Lunch (social hall) and 1 pm Student Talent Show (m/p room)

Hickory Park Community Benefit – January 20, 2019
Hickory Park will donate 20% of dinner sales accumulated by your elementary. Valid for Dining Room or Carryout Orders.

FACTS – Student Tuition Organization
The Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future School Tuition Organization (STO) and St. Cecilia School are pleased to once again provide tuition assistance ot qualifying families. New this year is families whose 2018 taxable income is at or below 400% of the federally determined poverty rate may qualify for an award. STO funds are only available for K-12th grade students. St. Cecilia School has made arrangements to pay the $31 fee for all families to apply. Please see the attachments for more information, including deadline information and help sessions date and times. Please call the school office with any questions or concerns.

Family School Association (FSA) News:
Save the Date – Project Linus – January 21st
On Monday, January 21 from 1:00-4:00 p.m, St. Cecilia will be the host site for a Volunteer Center of Story County service project for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day/National Day of Service. Project Linus will be providing the materials for volunteers to make fleece blankets. This is a wonderful service project for all ages. Please stop by the North Social Hall in the church anytime between 1:00-4:00 to help out. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

FSA Trivia Night-January 25th
The St. Cecilia Family School Association Presents TRIVIA NIGHT. FSA will use the funds raised at this event to provide events and other needs for the school and students of St. Cecilia School.
Date: January 25th, 2019
Time: Doors open at 6 pm with questions starting promptly at 7 pm.
Place: Ames Golf & Country Club 5752 George W. Carver
Form your team & reserve your table today. Everyone is welcome to the trivia night. It is a benefit to your team to diversify your team. Limited to 20 teams.
Price: $12.50 per person (8 players max per team) or $75.00 minimum per table for fewer than 6 players (Prizes will be given to the two teams with the most points.)
Bring Cash or a check made out to St. Cecilia FSA. No outside beverages can be brought into AGCC, however AGCC will have beverages you can purchase. You can bring in snacks to share with your team.

5th Grade Pasta Lunch – January 27th
All are invited to attend the St. Cecilia School 5th Grade Pasta Lunch on Sunday, January 27 from 11-1 in the Social Hall. This is a benefit for the fifth grade class, parent sponsored, year-end field trip to Omaha. Free will donations.

Staff & Family Talent Show – January 29th
St. Cecilia School Staff and Family Talent Show: Calling all St. Cecilia staff and families. Its now your chance to share your talents. The 2019 St. Cecilia Gala is coming up on February 9, 2019.
We hope to see you all there! It is a very fun night to socialize and support our wonderful school
and parish!
TOP 5 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT GALA
1. RSVP online, return your invite RSVP to the school office, or postmark your RSVP by
Monday, January 21st to be eligible for the early registration raffle. The winner of this
raffle will get a Bose bluetooth waterproof speaker!
2. Don’t forget to sell raffle tickets which were included in your red envelope. If you don’t
plan to sell them, please return them to school. There are a limited number of tickets
and we want to try to sell them all. Thanks for your help!!
3. Family Gala is this Sunday, January 20th from 2-4 pm. Don’t miss this super fun event
complete with a cupcake walk, grown-up jail, plinko, snacks, dancing, etc. You can also
buy gumballs to give your class a chance to win a class trip to Raspberry Hill for an
outdoor adventure!
4. If you still want to donate wine or beer for the Wine and Beer Grab at the Gala, find
Jaime Wandling after school on Friday January 18 and next Friday, January 25th before
and after school. Thank you so much for your generosity.
5. Coming Soon: Fixed Bidding Items will go on sale next Friday, January 25th via sign-up
genius. They will be available to anyone, even if you aren’t able to attend the Gala.
Items this year include the always popular Women’s Golf Outing, Cellar 626 Event, and
Campus Cycle Event. New items this year include a First Strike Tennis Clinic for kids
and a Day at the Farm for kids. Finally, there will be a Cinco De Mayo Party at Ames
Golf and Country Club complete with O’Mally’s food! Look for the sign-up genius link in

Gala Carnival Booths Help Needed
St. Cecilia Family Gala is January 20th from 2-4 we are looking for a handful of volunteers to manage our carnival booths (all of the supplies will be there for you already). Families will enjoy snacks, games, music and raffles. Check out the poster in the front hallway for more cool things happening at this event. Knights of Columbus – Ames Area Spelling Bee
The local Knights of Columbus will be hosting the annual Ames Area Spelling Bee on Sunday, February 3, 2019, for students in grades 4 through 7.
Key information:
– Free to all Ames-area 4th-7th grade students.
– Registrations due by Wednesday, January 30.
– Spelling Bee at 2pm on Sunday, Feb. 3, at St. Cecilia Church, 2900 Hoover.
