FACTS – Student Tuition Organization
The Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future School Tuition Organization (STO) and St. Cecilia School are pleased to once again provide tuition assistance ot qualifying families. New this year is families whose 2018 taxable income is at or below 400% of the federally determined poverty rate may qualify for an award. STO funds are only available for K-12th grade students. St. Cecilia School has made arrangements to pay the $31 fee for all families to apply. Please see the attachments for more information, including deadline information and help sessions date and times. Please call the school office with any questions or concerns.

Open Enrollment Notice to Parents
Parents or guardians whose child will attend a public school next year must request open enrollment if they want their child enrolled in an attendance center in a school district that is different from the school district in which the family resides. The request for open enrollment must be submitted to both the resident school district and the receiving school district by March 1 of the year prior to the school year for which enrollment is sought. The open enrollment request form is available at any public school district or is available online at

Tuition Tax Credit 2018
The State of Iowa provides tax credits to parents who send their children to private schools. The credit is equal to 25% of the first $1,000 of the total tuition and fees for each child. The maximum credit per child is $250. This applies to kindergarten through grade twelve students. If you’d like to use this form, please print the attachment or stop in the school office for a copy.

Save the Date – Project Linus – January 21st
On Monday, January 21 from 1:00-4:00 p.m, St. Cecilia will be the host site for a Volunteer Center of Story County service project for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day/National Day of Service. Project Linus will be providing the materials for volunteers to make fleece blankets. This is a wonderful service project for all ages. Please stop by the North Social Hall in the church anytime between 1:00-4:00 to help out. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

FSA Trivia Night-January 25th
The St. Cecilia Family School Association Presents TRIVIA NIGHT. FSA will use the funds raised at this event to provide events and other needs for the school and students of St. Cecilia School.

Time: Doors open at 6 pm with questions starting promptly at 7 pm.

5th Grade Pasta Lunch – January 27th
All are invited to attend the St. Cecilia School 5th Grade Pasta Lunch on Sunday, January 27 from 11-1 in the Social Hall. This is a benefit for the fifth grade class, parent sponsored, year-end field trip to Omaha. Free will donations.

Red envelopes
Red envelopes! The eldest child received a red envelope to take home in their Friday folder today, January 11th. The envelope contains information on the $10,000 cash raffle, Super Class Party Gumball Sales, and frequently asked questions about the Gala. If you don’t want raffle tickets or gumballs please return the packet to your child’s teacher. Thanks!

Preview Weekend
Preview Weekend will be January 19th & 20th. The Co-Chairs will be sharing a few items that will be available for auction at the Gala on February 9th. Come see us after all masses all weekend.

Gala Carnival Booths Help Needed
St. Cecilia Family Gala is January 20th from 2-4 we are looking for a handful of volunteers to manage our carnival booths (all of the supplies will be there for you already). Dad’s Social – Gala Beer Gathering Party
We’ll be having a Dad’s Night Out on Wednesday January 23rd from 7PM-9PM at Inside Golf in the North Grand Mall. For those not aware, Inside Golf has 4 golf simulator bays that will accommodate 5 golfers each. Bring yourself and your clubs -and you’re all set! If you don’t golf – no worries – they have pool tables, darts, Foosball and a bar! We will split the cost of golf among the golfers – estimated not to exceed $15.

Ames High – Elementary Basketball Night
A special Elementary Basketball Night for Ames students will be held on Friday, January 18.  It is sponsored by the Ames High School Athletic Booster Club and Dance Marathon committee, the evening will provide low-cost entertainment for the entire family.  
Highlights include:

  • FREE admission for Ames elementary students wearing a school shirt (or orange or black).
  • Reduced admission of just $3 for students’ parents/guardians.
  • FREE bag of popcorn for elementary students.
  • The opportunity for students to form a tunnel with the cheerleaders after halftime of each game.
  • Students can enter for the chance to win prize packages. Names will be drawn at halftimes of both games. Must be present to win.

Ames Children’s Choirs

Placement Auditions for the Spring Season of the Ames Children’s Choirs will be conducted January 11-17, 2019 in Ames. The program will be accepting singers ages 7-18 into all four choirs at this time. Rehearsals resume on January 14 & 15. Singers in central Iowa are also invited to visit the Ames Children’s Choirs during the month of January by attending Open Rehearsals at the Collegiate United Methodist Church Annex Auditorium located at 130 South Sheldon in Ames.

Ames High Winter Cheerleader Clinic
On Friday, February 1st from 3:45-7pm the Ames High Winter Cheerleaders are hosting their annual cheerleading clinic for Ames students (preschool-6th grade). We are inviting all boys and girls within the Ames Community School District, Ames Christian School, and St. Cecilia to attend. Attached is the required registration form. If you could please distribute this form to your families electronically, it would be most appreciated! The registration deadline is January 28th.
