Advent Service Project – Week of December 10th
MICA Food Pantry needs our help! The MICA Food Pantry serves 350-400 families each month and their pantry shelves are deficient in many food/toiletry items. St. Cecilia’s School Advent Service Project is to help “restock” MICA Food Pantry shelves. MICA will gladly accept any non-perishable food (that is not expired), but would appreciate donations of canned soups, canned fruits, ramen noodles, soap, and toilet paper as these items are extremely low/out of stock at the MICA Food Pantry.

How can your family help?
Send non-perishable foods, toiletry items, or monetary donations to school with your child.

When?
Next week. We will be collecting December 10-14. Since we are collecting ALL of next week you do not need to overload your child’s backpack with canned goods. You can spread them out over the week.

Where?
There will be a “drop off” box by the cafeteria OR your child can just take them to their classroom.

Questions?
Thank you in advance for helping make the St. Cecilia School Advent Service Project a success! Please email Betsy Pyfferoen at pyfferoenm@gmail.com

Thank you – free out of uniform day – December 14th
Friday, December 14 will be a free out-of-uniform day, however, if you’d like donate an additional amount, this will be the last day to make a monetary donation. This money will be donated to Iowa State Dance Marathon, along with the money the 2nd graders have raised through their hot chocolate fundraiser. (Hot chocolate will be delivered on Friday 12/14, too!)

Christmas Family Liturgy
Plan to participate in this year’s Christmas Family Liturgy on Monday, December 24 at 4pm. There are many roles to be filled in the play, liturgy, and music. Once again, we hope to have many families (adults, teens, children) involved. Sign-up is available on-line on the parish website www.stceciliaparish.org by clicking on the ‘Christmas Family Liturgy’ image in the Left Hand column. The deadline for main roles will be Wednesday, December 12. Any questions, contact Bob Hauser at bhauser@stceciliaparish.org.

2019 Talent Show
Calling all talented kids! Each year during Catholic Schools Week, we showcase our talented K-5 students during a fun-filled show. Kids can play a musical instrument, dance, sing or perform any other talent that will be entertaining at this family event. The 2019 talent show will be held on Sunday January 27th. Students should start planning NOW! If your child is planning to participate this year, sign ups for the talent show must be completed before Christmas break. Please note that preview auditions will take place starting January 7th, but students must get signed up on Sign Up Genius for a time slot now. This is a change from past years so that we can better plan and practice for the performance. The deadline for signing up for the talent show is December 20th on Sign Up Genius. We will not accept late entrants, so plan ahead. This will give participants a longer time to plan and practice and the organizing committee more time to put the program together. Should you have any questions, please contact one of the talent show committee members below. We look forward to another great time to showcase the many talented students at St. Cecilia!
