Tuesday, 8/28: 12:30-3:15PM First day of 3/4-year-old afternoon class
Wednesday, 8/29: 8:15-11AM First day of 4-year-old morning class
Thursday, 8:15-11AM First day of 3-year-old morning class

Parent Night – September 5th
On September 5, please join us for Parent Night from 6-7 p.m. This evening will consist of a brief introduction to St. Cecilia School and staff, as well as an introduction to the various committees that support the school. Following the opening presentation, teachers will host parents in their classrooms to visit with them and answer any questions about the classroom and the curriculum. This will be another opportunity to join together as we work with you for your child or children’s academic and spiritual growth.

School Pictures – September 11th
Pete Tekippe Photography will be taking our class pictures on the morning of September 11th. The 4-year-old preschool class students may come in that morning (8-11 a.m.) to have their pictures taken or may have their pictures taken on the retake day when they will be in session.
Please make sure your child brings back their school picture order form, even if they are not placing an order as this saves on many phone calls home. If you are not placing an order, please just put your child’s name and ‘no order’ on the form. All order forms can be returned to your child(ren)’s teacher on September 10th or the morning on September 11th. All students who have a picture taken will receive a class composite picture.
If you wish your child to wear their Sunday best or another outfit, other than their school uniform, please have them come dressed for pictures and send their uniform in their backpack to change into immediately following.

In need of Mass Participants
We are in need of any adult (parents, grandparents, etc.) who would be interested in participating in Mass in a certain role (service, Eucharistic Minister, gift bearer, etc.). If interested, please contact the school office at #515-232-5290 to give us your contact information and the role you are interested in. Thank you.

2018-2019 Tuition and Hot Lunch
Did you pick the ‘pay in full’ or ‘pay by semester’ payment option for your 2018-2019 tuition? Have you checked your child(ren)’s lunch balance? Please bring a check to the school office for tuition or hot lunch or call the school office to check your balances. Thank you.

Meet the New Staff Members
The St. Cecilia Parish Welcoming Committee invites you to stop in the narthex after the 8:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday to greet the new parish and school staff!

What is Scrip? Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. At St. Cecilia, scrip is gift certificates to many local and national businesses. Scrip is also the name of a national, on-going fund raising program used to distribute business donations to non-profit organizations. Organizations like St. Cecilia purchase gift certificates from businesses at a discount and then sell them to their supporters at face value.
Example: 1) St. Cecilia purchases a $10 gift certificate from Hickory Park for $9.
2) St. Cecilia sells the $10 gift certificate to the Smith Family for $10, making a $1 (10%) profit.
3) The Smith Family uses the gift certificate just like cash at Hickory Park, redeeming the certificate for $10 in food.
Therefore, Hickory Park donated $1 to St. Cecilia Education, thanks to the Smith Family’s purchase. Hickory Park is happy because they received increased business and advertising. The Smith Family is happy because they received $10 in food from their $10 certificate which generated a $1 donation to St. Cecilia Education with no out-of-pocket expense to them. (They would have gone to Hickory Park and spent $10 anyways.) St. Cecilia is happy to receive the donation to support their education programs. You can also chose to use 50% of the profits to help pay your school or faith formation tuition. Everyone wins! Please see the attached for more details.

Saint Cecilia Cub Scout Pack 159 Sign-up!
Dear Saint Cecilia Families,
I am the Cubmaster of Pack 159 and I’d like to personally invite kids ages 5-11 or grades K-5 to Join our Cub Scout Pack.
This year we invite all children to join. We are proud to be a family pack. This means that Boys and Girls k-5 or ages 5-11 are invited to join pack 159. If you enjoy learning new skills, playing cool games, camping, hiking, building things, and being a part of a group that has led children to become great citizens of more than a 100 years we would like to meet you.
Cub scouts is more than an afterschool program. Our goal is to teach children character development, citizenship, and personal fitness through an organized, fun and engaging program led by trained leaders. Becoming a scout means following the Scout Law: A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. Pack 159 is chartered by Saint Cecilia Church but scouts don’t need to be a member of the parish or students at Saint Cecilia to join. Our scouts come from many schools and parishes in the area.
Pack 159 meets 1-3 times a month at various locations depending on the activity we do. Parents and siblings are encouraged to participate in the fun as well.
If you’d like more information about how to join cub scouts please contact me today. I’d be happy to meet with you to answer any questions you may have. We will also have a table at the STC open house on 9/5. Come Join the fun!
