PRINCIPAL NOTES – April 26, 2019

Dear 2019-2020 Parents,

By now, hopefully you’ve read about our new tuition and fee payment program starting for the 2019-2020 school year through FACTS Tuition Management and FACTS Giving. We are enclosing our previous letter and FAQ form for your review.

We are excited about these programs for these benefits:
Convenience & Security: Along with multiple payment plan options, your payments are processed securely through a bank to bank transaction.
Consumer Account: You may check your personal account or make payments online from the convenience of your home or office anytime.

Every preschool and school family will need to set up a FACTS account as we will bill tuition, supply/field trip/FSA fees and fundraisers through FACTS from St. Cecilia School throughout the school year. We are asking you to please set your account up by May 1st, so we can enter your 2019-2020 fees by the end of May. Please see link and instructions below.

Re: FACTS Tuition Management
As of today, you are able to sign into your FACTS account at:
If you already have a FACTS account through the Student Tuition Organization, you will use the same sign on and will see a separate tab ‘Payment Plan & Billing’ upon signing in. If you do not have a FACTS account already, please ‘create an account.’

Upon signing in or creating an account, you will go through a set up process which will include adding your students and picking a payment plan option. After completing this process, your account will be ‘pending.’

The office will receive notice and enter your fees for your 2019-2020 billing. This will include tuition and ‘incidental fees’ which will be billed to you and will include the following (please note that these fees have been built into the tuition in past years and are not new fees): Faith Formation workbook, Family School Association, Field Trip (for Ames area field trip, you will not be charged a bus fee), Music/Concerts, Technology and Classroom Supplies.

You will also have the option of a ‘prepay fee’ for your child’s hot lunch account. As with your other fees, you will be able to pay in full, or by semester, semi-monthly or monthly payments.

RE: FACTS Giving
We will also start using FACTS Giving. We will be able to collect certain extracurricular fees such as our Family School Association fundraiser and field trip fees (Such as a busing fee if field trip is outside of the Ames area or C.Y. Stephens ticket fee, etc. Example: Your second grade student is going to Living History Farms for a field trip, you would receive an email and link for your payment for your share of the bus expense.) There is no sign up required as you would be notified by email of this fee.

We understand that this is a new process and there will be questions throughout this upcoming year, but we feel confident having partnered with FACTS Management Company to help us manage our tuition and fees payment program. Thank you for your continued loyalty and support of St. Cecilia School.

Nonpublic Transportation Services
Parents that live outside the Ames School District are reminded to turn in your transportation reimbursement request. The reimbursement comes from the resident district and is flow thru dollars from the state of Iowa so by requesting the funds you are not taking any dollars from the local district, they are reimbursed for the amount they pay you. Remember this is only for families that live outside the Ames district.

Notice to nonpublic parents regarding public school district transportation services: Iowa Code Section 285.1 requires public school districts to provide transportation services to resident nonpublic students that are entitled as per that section. How the transportation service will be provided is to be determined by the public school district. When funds are appropriated by the Iowa General Assembly and if your public school district has selected “Parent Reimbursement” as their transportation service type of choice and you meet the transportation entitlement policy provisions of the public school district in which you live and the nonpublic school being attended has been accredited by the Iowa Department of Education, you are entitled to parent reimbursement as per Iowa Code Sections 285.1, subparagraph 3 and 285.3.

(Iowa Code, Section 285.3) If your public school district selects the “Parent Reimbursement” option, it is your responsibility as the nonpublic parent or guardian to notify your resident public school district that you have children attending an accredited nonpublic school and its location. In addition, specific information, as requested on this form, must be submitted by the nonpublic parent or guardian no later than December 1st (for first semester reimbursement) and May 1st (for second semester reimbursement), each year and sent to the school district where they reside. Failure to submit this request by the above deadline each semester will result in the denial of the reimbursement request for the claim period.

Please print off the appropriate form, complete it and mail it to the address toward the bottom of the form by May 1st for 2nd semester. Please do not mail it to St. Cecilia School. Thank you.

Students will be able to select which activity they would like to participate in and get to spend an hour creating something as a group to help others in our community. We will emphasize the habits of “Begin With the End in Mind” and “Synergize.” We will gather at the end of our work time so we can share with each other all we can accomplish when we work together to help others.

We would appreciate donations for our event to help our students bless others. If you are able to provide something, please deliver them to school by Wednesday, May 8th. Thank you for your support!
