Principal

I am excited to have this opportunity to be part of the St. Cecilia School and Parish.  I am a native of Ruthven, Iowa and started my teaching career in Everly, Iowa.  From there I went to Ruthven-Ayrshire where I was an administrator for over 25 years.  I was looking for a change and was given an opportunity at St. Mary’s School in Storm Lake, Iowa.  That experience brought back the excitement to me of being in education and the experience in working in a Catholic School added an experience of being able to share a faith component when working with students.  In conversations with my wife, we decided to relocate to central Iowa to be closer to our children and in 2013 St. Cecilia School gave me that opportunity!

My wife Ann works as a nurse in West Des Moines at DMOS. We live in Huxley.  We have four children, Shane-teacher in SE Warren, Kelli Keefer-teacher in Knoxville, Katie-resident of Altoona and works for Nationwide, and Andrew-lives in Urbandale and works as a GIS analyst in Des Moines.  We have five grandchildren and are enjoying being closer to our children and grandchildren.

The opportunity that I have to work with the students and staff at St. Cecilia School is what keeps me young.  Every day I look forward for a chance to be part of your child’s education and want to thank you for allowing me the privilege to be part of the St. Cecilia family.
