Celebrate AMOS at an upcoming party and fundraising event
Celebrate AMOS & make an investment in our vital work in Ames, Ankeny, Norwalk, & the Des Moines metro!

Join us for a celebration & fundraising party:
Friday, June 28, 7pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames – 1015 N. Hyland

This June, join AMOS in a fundraising effort across all of our clusters and institutions. The work of AMOS brings together ordinary people to create change in our own communities, improving quality of life for everyone. In the past year alone, AMOS has:

  • Launched an effort to bring a Housing First permanent supportive housing initiative to Story County, to address the needs of our neighbors with chronic mental illness.
  • Secured ongoing funding for two AMOS-initiated organizations: Project IOWA and the Story County Housing Trust Fund.
  • Successfully worked to include 5 key AMOS priorities in the City of Des Moines one-cent sales tax proposal, then helped pass the proposal with over 70% of the vote! AMOS priorities funded by this tax include infrastructure improvements, hiring additional rental inspectors, addressing abandoned and dilapidated homes, expanding library hours to 6 days per week, and funding children’s mental health crisis services.
  • Re-established a restorative justice juvenile diversion program with the Des Moines Police Department after securing the passage of needed state legislation in 2018. This program builds on the success of our work with local schools and will help keep more youth out of the criminal justice system and on the path to success.
  • Expanded our membership with the founding of a new AMOS cluster of seven congregations in Ankeny!

RSVP at to let us know you’re coming. Help us spread the word with our Facebook events for Ames and Des Moines.
