August 1, 2019

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to the start of the upcoming academic year! You should have received an email from us with important back-to-school information. Please consult that email for any questions you might have regarding the logistics for the school year and as always, never hesitate to contact us if you need additional assistance.

We want to welcome you to a ‘come-and-go’ Open House Night and Ice Cream Social on August 21st from 5-6:30 p.m.  This will be a time for your family to stop and meet your child(ren)’s teacher, find your locker, drop off school supplies or pick up your preordered supplies, and have a treat of ice cream courtesy of the Family School Association (FSA).  There will be other stations throughout the building as well; band instrument selection in the library, school uniform sale, and registration/fee assistance in the hallways.

This year we will not be hosting a Parent Night as we have in recent past years. Instead, your child(ren)’s teachers will be sending home any pertinent information they have for you about their classroom and their curriculum in your child’s Friday folder. Please review all information sent home, as this will be one more opportunity to join together as we work with you for your child(ren)’s academic and spiritual growth. Teachers are happy to discuss any questions you may have regarding their classrooms and curriculum, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

After All-School Mass on August 28th, we will be hosting a reception in the school multipurpose room for the unveiling of our school spirit mural. Tim Read, artist and designer of the mural, will be with us to discuss his journey in creating the mural and the significance of the mural to the St. Cecilia School community.

Finally, our service projects this year will be centered around the Corporal Works of Mercy. Each month, a different classroom will designate their service project to a particular Work of Mercy. We will do one out-of-uniform day a month, with proceeds from donations going to agencies doing the work of that particular Work of Mercy. Be sure to check the Principal Notes throughout the year to learn more about the Work of Mercy of the Month!

Again, I am looking forward to an exciting school year and hopefully you can join us for our upcoming events.

Sincerely,

Sara E. Rooney, Principal
