Saint Cecilia Council of Catholic Women
The Saint Cecilia Council of Catholic Women encourages all women of the parish to join and participate in the Council work.  General meetings are held on the first Thursday of October and April. The membership of the Council is divided into Circles that meet individually between September and May.

The Saint Cecilia Council participates in Deanery and Archdiocesan Council activities.

Wedding and Anniversary Reception Committee

The Saint Cecilia Council of Catholic Women offers a simple wedding and anniversary reception service in the Social Center.  The Reception Committee chairperson should be contacted at least six weeks in advance of a planned event.

Saint Anne Circle

Saint Anne Circle helps achieve balance in our spiritual lives by praying the rosary and studying the Bible.  Saint Anne Circle also

Saint Gerard Circle provides religious education for members through monthly speakers or discussions.  Saint Gerard Circle also

Saint Mary Circle enables members to become better acquainted with other parishioners and promotes personal growth through educational programs.  Activities include the following:

Our Lady of Good Counsel Rosary Makers

Our Lady of Good Counsel meets monthly to promote devotion to Mary through praying the rosary and making rosaries for mission areas. Visitors and new members are welcome.   The contact person is Dixie Lickteig, 233-1393.

Catholic Daughters of America

"Unity and Charity" is the motto of the international organization of Catholic women, Catholic Daughters of America.  Court Madonna #858 includes members from Ames and the surrounding area.  Catholic women 18 years of age and older are eligible for membership

Business meetings are held monthly, September through June.  Social, "Guest Night," and "Ladies Night Out" are some of the annual activities. Donations are made to local, national, and international charities from fund raising events.

Deceased members are enrolled in Perpetual Masses at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D. C.

Christian Family Movement

The Christian Family Movement (CFM) is a network of small discussion-action groups of couples who meet regularly in one another's homes. Through programs, the groups focus on four key relationships: husband/wife, parent/children, family/community, and family/church.  CFM provides friendship and support to members, strengthens marriage, enriches family life, deepens faith, develops leaders, increases social awareness, and builds community.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus, an organization of Catholic men, is dedicated to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.  In Ames, the Father Zachary Kucin Council #2230 schedules major fund raising activities each year:
Knights of Columbus members are active in church, community, and school programs.
Knights of Columbus help the high-school by doing an after-prom casino.
Knights of Columbus participate in all Appalachia "truck-loading" events.
Knights of Columbus pray the rosary at 7:30 pm each Monday in the Burke Chapel.
Knights of Columbus present Last Supper plays during Lent and will travel to your location.
Knights of Columbus distribute Right-To-Life roses.
Other Annual events include a Knights of Columbus banquet and a family picnic.
Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 7 pm in the Saint Cecilia Social Hall.

Teams of Our Lady
A Team of Our Lady is a Christian community of four to six married couples assisted by a spiritual director.  The group works together to achieve a common Goal, growing closer to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Couples meet monthly to share a meal, to pray, and to help each other develop a deeper spirituality.  The mutual help of each couple encourages everyone to grow in Christ.  Members encourage and assist each other through their individual efforts, successes, or failures.

Appalachia Committee

The purpose of the Appalachia Committee, a city and statewide effort, is to help the mountain people of Kentucky and Tennessee.  The group collects clothes, home furnishings, and toys throughout the year--especially before Christmas.  Volunteers collect and pack items; some travel to Appalachia to visit the residents, distribute the donations, and do repair and construction work.  Saint Cecilia parishioners are welcome to participate in any part of the groups activities.

Birthright

Birthright is a non-demonination, non-profit organization whose purpose is to help women who are pregnant or fear they may be pregnant and feel frightened and alone.  After receiving the necessary and appropriate training, volunteers assist as counselors or work in a clerical capacity.

Caring/Bereavement Committee

The members of the Caring/Bereavement Committee act to provide caring and support when a member of the parish suffers a loss of health or of a loved one.  Please call the Parish Office (233-3092) to provide referral information.

Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities is a human service organization that provides individual, marriage, and family counseling on a sliding fee scale.  The organization also provides adoption services and serves as an advocate for people with a variety of needs.  Catholic Charities is supported by an annual archdiocesan appeal.  Please call 292-3852 for more information.

Directed Retreats and Spiritual Direction

A retreat director with a Master's degree in Christian Spirituality and a certificate in spiritual and retreat direction from Creighton University in Omaha is available to assist in spiritual direction or to direct retreats for private groups or individuals.  Please contact the Parish Office (233-3092) for further information.

Food Shelf

Non-perishable food is collected at all liturgies one weekend a month.  The collected food is donated to Story County Community Action for distribution to those in need.
